Red Oak Montessori School celebrated its fourth annual International Peace Day on Monday, Sept. 21. This is a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples. Peace Day is celebrated all across the world in many different ways. Red Oak Montessori School spent the last week talking about and studying peace in the classroom. The children learned a song, “Light a Candle for Love” and created peace messages and peace pinwheels. On Sept. 21, at precisely noon, the students, staff and families at Red Oak gathered around their peace pole in the play yard; sang “Light a Candle for Love,” sent out their messages of peace and planted their peace pinwheels in the ground.
